The "Way-Back" Attic

Memories are cool sometimes when it comes to seeing how much has changed so drastically in ones
lifetime. The theme parks we know today were either infants or still dreams. In 1960, Disneyland had only been open for 5 years. The Six Flags theme parks would not be seen until August of 1960. Sea World was non existent and the space race was just beginning. The world had only tapped into the law of thrust and lift 47 years before and soon the world would be flying all around outer space.. Even television had only been around since 1939 but had one channel that was only on air for a few hours a day. There was the Jack Paar show...forerunner to The Tonight Show...Show of Shows, Kukla, Fran and Ollie and the Lawrence Welk Show and that was about it.  The rest of the time was a test pattern on air, which many reading this have never even seen! It was not color either! A common site for those lucky enough to have a TV in their house was always adorned with "rabbit ears" with tin foil stretched between the antenna. Our computers and calculators were a pencil and a Big Chief tablet..the elite genius had a slide rule...what is that, right? Our gameboys were cardboard folding panels with plastic pieces and a spinner. Movie matinees on Saturdays were only 10 cents and a child could stay there entertained all day long..adults too! Included were news reels, cartoons, serials like the Lone Ranger or the Cisco Kid and of course the Double Feature. Interesting to look back and see how much things have changed and how quickly!
